about photo

Sean Rowley

Growing up in a military family, I have had the opportunity to see a large part of Canada, and wherever we lived, outdoor activity was a big part of our lives. I have been lucky enough to spend time in the Canadian Rockies, the prairies of Saskatchewan, and Northern Ontario (as far north as James Bay). Over the years, my love for the outdoors has grown strong.

Originally, my camera accompanied me on camping trips to capture the fun we had, but eventually photography became the reason for my trips. It forced me to slow down and take a closer look at the natural beauty around me.

Beyond taking a photography course in high school, all my experience has come from reading books, research on the internet, talking to other photographers, and hands on field work. There comes a point when you need to get out and put everything you know into action. I would like to think I have learned from my mistakes and built on my successes. I know there is more experimentation in my future because it is the mistakes that keep me striving to do better.

While my photographic subjects vary, my true passion is for outdoor photography. I prefer to focus on landscapes, waterscapes, and wildlife. Being an avid canoe tripper allows me the opportunity to get away from the regular hustle and bustle of everyday life and find subjects off the beaten path.
